Diagno LJ® micobacterial is a rich medium containing all the nutrients required for bacterial growth.

Diagno LJ® although it is the same as Löwenstein-Jensen (LJ) in terms of basic content, thanks to its special formula, it solidifies without the need for heating after adding the egg. Thus, the proportion of some substances necessary for growth deteriorated during cooking is higher compared to LJ medium. This accelerates the reproduction of mycobacteria.

Malachite green, which gives the medium its green color, inhibits the growth of many other different types of bacteria, creating a selective medium for mycobacteria resistant to this dye.
